Quantum Microwave Engineer

Job description

Atlantic Quantum is seeking a microwave engineer to join us on our mission to build fault-tolerant quantum hardware. In this role, you will develop, model, and simulate complex on-chip circuits operating in the microwave frequency regime. In addition, you will collaborate closely with our experimental team to test the circuits in quantum computing experiments. Expertise in quantum computing is encouraged but not necessary. You will learn core concepts in a fast-paced manner once you assume the role.

Atlantic Quantum believes that fault-tolerant quantum hardware is the key to making progress in quantum computing. We take on this uniquely tough challenge with a team of deep experts in the field, anchored in Cambridge and Gothenburg to reflect our MIT and Chalmers roots. Our combined US and EU presence helps attract talent, investments, and partnerships to accelerate the development and commercialization of scalable quantum computing. We offer flexible work in a fast-moving start-up environment, with strong ties to world-class academic research.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or a related engineering program. Alternatively, a BS or BA degree and at least three years of professional work experience in one of those fields.
  • Expertise with electromagnetic simulation tools (one or more of Sonnet, COMSOL, Ansys Maxwell, Ansys HFSS, Microwave Office or similar)
  • Expertise in microwave/RF measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, C, C++, or MATLAB.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with superconducting circuit design, such as quantum processors, microwave kinetic inductance detectors, SFQ circuitry.
  • Work experience in the hardware teams at IBM Quantum, Google Quantum AI, Rigetti, D-Wave, Northrop Grumman, or a similar quantum hardware company.
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics, with expertise in at least one of the following topics: superconducting qubits, circuit QED, quantum optics.

Location

Cambridge, MA

Benefits:

Health insurance, 401K plan, flexibility on vacation, (+equity award)

Citizenship requirement

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.
